The Oklahoma City Thunder held off the Timberwolves last night 92-84, even without Kevin Durant, who was a late scratch from the game for the Thunder.
Minnesota kept the Thunder’s other star, Russell Westbrook, in check – holding him to 18 points on 7-of-22 shooting. But Oklahoma City tallied a season high 32 fast break points and ran to the eight point victory.
Reggie Jackson and Anthony Morrow each scored 14 points off the bench for Oklahoma City and Serge Ibaka had a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds.
Minnesota kept it interesting, Thaddeus Young had 22 points and eight rebounds, while Andrew Wiggins had a game-high 23. It was the 18th consecutive game that Wiggins has finished in double figures.
But they didn’t have a lot of help – Zach LaVine was the only other Wolves player in double figures with 11.
The game’s biggest play may have occurred at the end of the first half. After Minnesota had cut the Oklahoma City lead to six, the Thunder pushed the lead right back to eight after the Wolves’ defense broke down.
