The first round pairings of the WCHA tournament were set on Sunday. All 12 teams play with the higher seed hosting a best-of-three series. Games will be played Friday and Saturday, and Sunday if necessary.
No. 1 St. Cloud State vs. No. 12 Alaska-Anchorage
The Huskies clinched the top seed by winning the tiebreaker over Minnesota.
No. 2 Minnesota vs. No. 11 Bemidji State
The Gophers swept the Beavers in the final weekend of the regular season.
No. 3 North Dakota vs. No. 10 Michigan Tech
UND failed to clinch a share of the WCHA regular season title by losing to Minnesota State on Saturday.
No. 4 Wisconsin vs. No. 9 Minnesota Duluth
UMD and the Badgers haven’t played since October.
No. 5 Denver vs. No. 8 Colorado College
Travel expenses shouldn’t be an issue in this series.
No. 6 Minnesota State vs. No. 7 Nebraska Omaha
The Mavericks are 19-6-1 since November 10th.
