The NHL competition committee has recommended that mandatory visors be grandfathered in at the start of the 2013-14 season.
Players that have played 26 or more games won’t be forced to wear visors.
Other changes could be seen during the upcoming NHL preseason. The league will experiment with hybrid icing and nets that are four inches shallower to provide more room behind the goal.
All of the possible rule changes need to pass through the league’s Board of Governors later this month.
