The Vikings have lost a seventh-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft after due to a 2019 salary cap violation that involved a practice squad player.
“A mistake was made, we take responsibility and we respect the league’s decision and will move forward,” said Rick Spielman, Vikings general manager, in a statement.
In addition to losing the 242nd overall selection in the April 29-May 1 NFL Draft, three Vikings executives were also fined $10,000 each. The NFL did not disclose which player or executives were involved.
Minnesota now has 11 picks in the draft, tied for most in the league.
