The Minnesota Twins took their three-game series with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, using a two-run double by Jorge Polanco to fuel a 3-2 victory.
The game got off to a tough start thanks to the Tigers’ stable of former Twins. Akil Baddoo got on the board with an RBI single to drive in Jonathan Schoop and put Detroit ahead in the second inning.
After Willians Astudillo tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth, Wilson Ramos smashed a solo homer to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Detroit starter Matthew Boyd had his way early but the Twins mounted a rally to take the lead in the top of the sixth. With two men on, Polanco smashed a double into the gap which saw Nelson Cruz break out his Byron Buxton impersonation to score the go-ahead run.

Armed with a 3-2 lead, Kenta Maeda ran into some trouble in the sixth inning but the Twins defense came through. Andrelton Simmons fired a laser from left field to keep Willie Castro from scoring and Kyle Garlick had another assist to tag out Miguel Cabrera and retain their lead.

The advantage lasted until the ninth inning as Alex Colomé shut the door with two shutout innings and three strikeouts to seal the win.
The Twins (4-2) will celebrate Opening Day at Target Field on Thursday as they host the Seattle Mariners. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m.
