An undefeated start to the season for the Timberwolves has garnered a lot of respect after one week of play in the NBA. Check out where they stand in the first edition of regular season power rankings.
NBA.com: No. 4 — Hey, remember Kevin Love? He hits big shots, gobbles up tons of rebounds and …leads the league in scoring? If he flees Minnesota as a free agent in 2015, maybe he should think about joining an Atlantic Division team instead of heading to L.A., so that he can play the Knicks more often. He’s averaged 32.5 points and 20.5 rebounds in his last four games against New York.
ESPN: No. 3 — The Wolves showed us glimpses of the potential we’ve been talking about for ages by clamping down on Durant and Melo.
Yahoo! Sports: No. 4 — The undefeated Wolves showed strong signs that they’re capable of making the postseason for the first time since 2004. Kevin Love is healthy and averaging 29.6 points and 14.6 rebounds.
ProBasketballTalk: No. 3 — Kevin Love is averaging 29.7 points a game (on 50% shooting, plus 14.7 rebounds), but there is a balance to the Wolves offense with six players averaging at least 9 points a game. The defense also has been surprisingly strong so far this season.
Sports Illustrated: No. 6 — So this is what a (mostly) healthy Timberwolves team looks like? Minnesota got off to its first 3-0 start in 12 years by outrunning the host Knicks on Sunday. With the ball moving and the offense fluid, Minnesota will be tough to slow down as long as it stays healthy. Kevin Love is averaging 29.6 points and 13 rebounds, Ricky Rubio has dished at least 10 assists in every game and Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer are having an impact already. Life is good for Wolves fans for the first time in awhile.
USA Today: No. 6 — Kevin Love’s statistics might seem fluky until you realize this is just what Love does when he’s actually healthy.
SB Nation: No. 4 — Kevin Love is back and better than ever, averaging 29.7 points and 14.7 rebounds in three Wolves victories. Love also received an unexpected dap from the New York Knicks’ biggest fan.
