Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had a nice surprise in store for a teenage fan this weekend.
Bridgewater made the trip to Louisville to take high school junior Ashley Davis to her prom.
WDRB reports Bridgewater first met the Davis family in 2011, when he was a freshman playing for the University of Louisville at the Belk Bowl.
Ashley’s dad met Bridgewater in the elevator and asked if he would meet his daughter. Bridgewater was Ashley’s favorite player, and she had waited in the lobby for two hours to try to get a glimpse of him.
Bridgewater agreed to meet her, and Ashley was thrilled.
Earlier this year, Ashley’s mom ran into Bridgewater in Louisville and pitched the idea of prom, and he agreed to go with Ashley, WDRB notes. Mom and dad helped Ashley plan for prom, but didn’t tell her who was escorting her.
When Bridgewater showed up at her door, Ashley was in tears.
Bridgewater told WLKY, “It was a good thing to do. It kind of touched me when I first met her. How she kind of teared up and everything. It just showed that I made an impact here on the playing field on and off the playing field.”
Bridgewater was a hit at the prom, posing with students for pictures, after asking Ashley for permission.
“She is just a great girl and I am going to make sure she has a great time tonight,”Bridgewater told WLKY.
