It’s too bad the Lakers don’t plan on wearing their brand new classic edition Nike jerseys when they play the Timberwolves this season, because these are awesome.
The jerseys pop with the old school Minneapolis Lakers colors: powder blue and yellow. And they have “MPLS” across the front.
The uniforms pay homage to the “history and tradition of success since their inception into the league back in Minneapolis,” a statement from the Lakers said.
The Lakers moved to Los Angeles from Minneapolis after 13 seasons in Minnesota (1947-1960).
L.A. plans to wear the throwbacks five times this season, starting this Wednesday at home against the Washington Wizards. They’ll also wear them during home games Nov. 15 (76ers), Dec. 27 (Grizzlies), Jan. 3 (Thunder), and Mar. 7 (Magic).
