Wolves rookie Shabazz Muhammad has only played four games with the Iowa Energy, Minnesota’s developmental league affiliate, but it looks like his time in the minor leagues of the NBA will be short lived.
Kind of.
According to Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press, who talked to Wolves President of Basketball of Operations Flip Saunders Sunday, Muhammad will return to the Wolves tonight.
Saunders said the goal is to get Muhammad practice time with the big club before they go on a four-game road trip beginning Jan. 21.
The former Wolves, Pistons, and Wizards head man also said that Muhammad will likely be up and down between Iowa and the Wolves multiple times in the near future, saying “we want to send him down in short stints, we don’t want him to be disconnected with what we’re trying to do.”
Muhammad has averaged over 24 points per game in the four he’s played with Iowa, capped by today’s 26 point, 12 rebound performance against Fort Wayne in a three point loss.
The UCLA alum has played just 42 minutes with Minnesota this year.
