Minnesota United defender Brett Kallman has been suspended and fine after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
The Loons announced the suspension Thursday morning, though the substance in question has not been identified.
The 28-year-old has been suspended for 10 MLS games, per the MLS collective bargaining agreement, as well as being fined 20 percent of his annual salary.
It means he’ll miss the remaining 4 MLS regular season games as well as any playoff matches United play this season.
The Loons are currently 3rd in the Western Conference, with the top eight teams advancing to the playoffs.
Any remaining games will be served during the 2020 season.
Kallman has been with United since 2013 during its days in the North American Soccer League.
He has started 16 of United’s 30 games this season, coming off the bench in two others.
Per the suspension, he won’t be able to take part in team training or use team training facilities, nor may he attend team events or take part in friendlies or scrimmages.
He may take part in preseason training, including closed-door scrimmages.
He’ll miss away trips to the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders, and home games vs. Sporting Kansas City and LAFC.
