Major League Baseball’s ownership group overwhelmingly approved a proposal today from MLB Vice President Joe Torre and others to institute an all encompassing replay system covering everything except the strike zone beginning in 2014.
Included in the changes will be three manager challenges, one of which is available the first six innings, the other two in the final three innings.
This change means close plays at the bases, disputed fly balls, and all plays that have to do with anything aside from balls and strikes will be reviewable. Should a manager be out of challenges, the umpires can confer and decide whether to go to the replay for a questionable call.
Watching this will hurt Twins fans, but now we can allegedly rest assured, that with these changes calls like this will never happen again.
