Minnesota United recorded its first playoff in its history Sunday evening, beating the Colorado Rapids 3-0 in round one.
Two goals from Kevin Molino and another from Robin Lod secured a dominant victory for the 4th seed Loons over the 5th seed Rapids at Allianz Field.
It’s the first win in the playoffs for United since they entered Major League Soccer in 2017, and it sets up a clash against the 1st-seed Sporting Kansas City on either Dec. 1 or 2.
The Loons made their first MLS playoffs appearance in 2019, when it also had the 4th seed, only to lose in the first round to a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-inspired L.A. Galaxy.
There was to be no mistakes this time though, with the 3-0 margin actually flattering the Rapids, with the Loons having several chances to score more.
