The Vikings might be without wide receiver Adam Thielen for a fourth straight game (the majority of) when they face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
Asked Wednesday about Thielen’s chances of playing in the Week 10 showdown, head coach Mike Zimmer said: “I don’t know. We’ll have to see how the rest of the week goes.”
Thielen injured his hamstring after making a 27-yard touchdown catch in Minnesota’s Week 7 victory over the Lions. He left that game in the first quarter, missed the Thursday night game against Washington and then left very early in the first quarter of last week’s loss to the Chiefs.
Initially diagnosed with a strained hamstring, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday that Thielen’s hamstring wasn’t damaged further when he pulled out of Sunday’s contest in Kansas City as a precaution.
But Pelissero noted that it’s unlikely Thielen will be ready to go Sunday night in Dallas.
Was the Pro Bowl wideout rushed back from the injury?
“No, he was not rushed back too soon,” Zimmer said Wednesday.
If Thielen sits out this week the Vikings will face a decision to bring him back in Week 11 against Denver or to rest him through the Week 12 bye, which would give him two full weeks to recover with hopes of being ready for the stretch run starting Monday, Dec. 2 in Seattle.
Thielen has 27 catches for 391 yards and six touchdowns this season.
