Two of the game’s biggest stars may miss their team’s final game of the 2013 season Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced that Calvin Johnson, who has not practiced all week, is doubtful for Detroit’s Dome clash with the Vikings.
Johnson, who has battled a knee injury this season, has fully practiced just one-quarter of the time this year for Detroit, though his game production has not fallen off as quarterback Matt Stafford’s top target.
The exact knee injury is unknown, though the Detroit training staff does know that part of the issue is a partially torn PCL.
Some believe keeping “Megatron” out for the final game of the season is the smart thing to do, with Detroit having nothing to play for after being eliminated from playoff contention last week.

As for the Purple, head coach Leslie Frazier told the media around noon Friday that running back Toby Gerhart is out, while reigning league MVP Adrian Peterson is doubtful for the game after testing out his injured foot and groin Thursday and Friday.

Frazier added Matt Asiata, who scored three touchdowns against Philadelphia in his only start in place of Peterson, will likely get another start and Joe Banyard will see time as well.
