Max Kepler is out of Minnesota’s struggling lineup for at least the next week and change as he’s dealing with a hamstring strain in his left leg.
The Twins announced Saturday that Kepler has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Outfielder Trevor Larnach has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to take Kepler’s roster spot.
Kepler hit .263 with an .835 OPS in April but has struggled in May, hitting .162 with a .694 OPS in 37 at-bats. Of his six hits this month, three were home runs.
Larnach was optioned to St. Paul on May 5 after starting the month with eight strikeouts in nine at-bats. He struck out in 16 of his most recent 29 at-bats with the Twins, but he may have figured it out in four games with the Saints as he collected seven hits in 14 at-bats with two homers, two doubles and six RBIs.
