Both Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer were batting cleanup for Team Canada and Team USA, respectively, Sunday in the World Baseball Classic.
Both went 2-for-4 at the the plate in the only US-Canada showdown, but Mauer’s club won, 9-4, to advance to the second round.
So far, Mauer is hitting .417 in three contests, with Morneau finishing the tournament at a .636 clip — going 8 for 12.
Up next: Mauer and Team USA head to Miami to play Puerto Rico Tuesday night. Morneau heads back to Twins training camp in Fort Myers, Fla.
