Math and sports go together really well, and sometimes, predicting statistical outcomes is fairly accurate. In this case, Vikings fans better hope not.
PredictionMachine.com’s slogan is “We play the game 50,000 times before it’s actually played.”
In one of their latest simulations, it tried to figure out which quarterback — Josh Freeman, Christian Ponder, or Matt Cassel — would lead the Vikings to the best regular season record. The results are disturbing.
CHRISTIAN PONDER
Projected rest of season stats: 2,674.4 passing yards, 11.4 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
With Ponder starting for the rest of the season, the Vikings would finish with 5.2 wins and 10.8 losses.
MATT CASSEL
Projected rest of season stats: 2,734.9 passing yards, 13.7 touchdowns, 12.4 interceptions.
With Cassel starting for the rest of the season, the Vikings would finish with 5.3 wins and 10.7 losses.
JOSH FREEMAN
Projected rest of season stats: 2,870.2 passing yards, 15.3 touchdowns, 13.2 interceptions.
With Freeman starting for the rest of the season, the Vikings would finish with 5.6 wins and 10.4 losses.
According to the simulations, the Vikings are going to finish either 5-11 or 6-10. Either way, all three don’t have the Prediction Machine on their side. With Freeman starting for the rest of the season, the Viking would finish with 5.6 wins and 10.4 losses.
