The honeymoon with this year’s model of the basketball Gophers seems to be over.
After Wednesday night’s loss to Northwestern (the 5th straight loss in Evanston, Ill.), some Gopher followers are coming a bit unglued.
From the SB Nation “Daily Gopher”: “Get pi__ed about this one. Northwestern is not traditionally any better than a mediocre Big Ten team and this is one of their least talented teams in the last few years while the Gophers are fielding one of their best.”
In FoxSports.com’s “From The Barn” blog, writer zipsofakron wonders why Tubby Smith still can’t figure out a 1-3-1 zone: “He KNOWS the Wildcats are going to use it. They do it every time they face Minnesota. PREPARE YOUR PLAYERS FOR THE ZONE. Draw up three plays to break it down. RUN THEM. This isn’t rocket science, folks. It’s a basketball offense. Five guys and a ball.”
Down with Goldy on blogspot.com sounds really down, lamenting the latest loss: “The Battle for Atlantis, Michigan State game, Illinois game, and second half of Indiana had me all in, all the way. This is what you get for believing.”
