Minnesota United star Kevin Molino has revealed his departure from the Loons in a late-night Instagram post.
The 30-year-old is out of contract with United, and despite manager Adrian Heath saying they would be offering him a new deal, it appears as though a deal couldn’t be reached.
“Goodbye Minnesota,” Molino wrote.
“To everyone at Minnesota United… the owners, management, coaches, backroom staff, office staff, the ball boys, the fans and most of all my teammates… from my heart to yours Thank You for embracing me and showing me all the love and support for the last four years of my life.
“It’s been a journey filled with so much emotion and experiences. You showed me how to comeback after being sidelined with injury and how to love the game again. I want to wish this great club all the best!
“Onto another chapter now.”
Molino was in red-hot form during United’s history-making run in the playoffs, scoring a brace in each of the games against the Colorado Rapids and Sporting KC, and his link-up play with midfield virtuoso Reynoso proved particularly potent.
He scored 13 goals during the COVID-curtailed 2020 season, having previously only scored 12 for the club between 2017-19, albeit a period that saw him suffer serious injuries.
