Minnesota United is heading to the Western Conference Final after shocking Sporting Kansas City 3-0 Thursday night.
The No. 4-seeded Loons will play the Seattle Sounders after registering the second playoffs win in its history, overcoming the No. 1 seeds in Kansas City.
United were lucky to still be level after soaking up serious pressure from Sporting in the first 25 minutes. United had keeper Dayne St. Clair to thank after he made a series of saves, while defender Michael Boxall kept the game goalless with a goal-line clearance.
What followed was a 12-minute blitz that left the hosts stunned.
Kevin Molino, who scored twice in United’s 3-0 win over Colorado in the first playoffs round, bagged another brace as he continued what is currently a march towards playoffs MVP.
His second was a beauty, latching onto a cheeky chipped reverse pass from Emanuel “Bebelo” Reynoso and volleying first time into the bottom left corner.

Reynoso provided the assist for Molino’s first too, and completed a hat-trick of assists in the 39th minute as he set up Bakaye Dibassy to make it three, putting the game beyond the reach of Sporting.
The Loons will meet the No. 2 seed Sounders this Monday, Dec. 7, with the winner going to the MLS Cup Final to face either New England Revolution or Columbus Crew.
