Francisco Liriano allowed just one run over seven innings to lead the Twins to a 4-1 win over the White Sox at Target Field Monday night. The win puts the last place Twins just seven-and-a-half games behind first place Chicago.
For Liriano, it was his sixth considering solid start.
Offensively the Twins were led by Denard Span, Ben Revere and Joe Mauer. The trio at the top of the order finished a combined 9-14. Revere had four hits and Mauer had three. Span smacked two doubles, including a line drive that was inches from landing in the flower beds in right field.
Mauer, Jamey Carroll and Trevor Plouffe each finished with one RBI.
Jared Burton pitched the ninth inning for his second save in as many days.
