The poor Detroit Lions.
After starting the season 6-3 and sitting in firm control of what certainly could be the most mediocre division in football, the Motor City Kitties have lost five of their last six games, and were all-too-suddenly eliminated from the playoffs Sunday with an overtime loss to the lowly New York Giants.
Monday morning, salt was rubbed in the proverbial wound of Lions supporters.
After selling playoff tickets late in the season when they still possessed first place, Detroit’s front office must have thought it would be a good idea to send those tickets out to their owners over the weekend.
When fans opened their mailboxes, there the tickets sat, taunting those that had a hard enough time getting out of bed after the epic late season collapse of their squad.
Even Detroit’s front office falls apart late in the season. The Lions and Vikings play their final regular season game Sunday at the Metrodome, a noon kickoff.
