The Minnesota Twins lost more ground in the American League Central on Wednesday night as the Cleveland Indians held on for a 5-3 victory at Progressive Field.
The Twins got off to a great start against the tribe as Max Kepler launched a leadoff home run off Mike Clevinger to give Minnesota an early lead.

The Twins added to their lead in the second inning with an RBI single from Lamonte Wade Jr., but it didn’t last as Jose Ramirez laced a three-run homer inside the right-field foul pole in the third to give the Indians a 3-2 lead.
Cleveland hung onto the lead until the top of the seventh inning when Jake Cave tied the game with an RBI single, but it was an eighth-inning rally that did the Twins in.
The Indians scored three runs off Sergio Romo in the eighth on a Tyler Naquin double, a sacrifice fly from Greg Allen and Cesar Hernandez single to blow the game open and claim the crucial three-game series.
With the loss, the Twins hold a 1/2 game lead over the Indians and the Chicago White Sox, who won for the 10th time in the past 11 games on Wednesday afternoon. Minnesota will try to get back on track on Thursday when they travel to Detroit to take on the Tigers.
