The Minnesota Wild scored two late goals in the space 26 seconds as they stunned the Vegas Golden Knights with a 6-5 victory on Monday night.
Late goals from Kirill Kaprizov and Jonas Brodin completed a stunning turnaround in front of the COVID-restricted crowd at the Xcel Energy Center.
The Wild got off to a tough start in a first period that included five combined goals. Joel Eriksson Ek started the scoring with his 18th goal of the season but Shea Theodore and Alec Martinez each scored goals to give Vegas a 2-1 lead.
Minnesota rebounded with Nick Bonino’s eighth goal of the season but Alex Tuch scored his 18th goal of the season to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 lead going into the first intermission.
The second period featured more action with Mark Stone scoring his 21st goal of the season to put Vegas 4-2 ahead, but Bonino scored his second goal of the game to pull one back.

Vegas regained a two-goal advantage with Jonathan Marchessault’s 16th goal of the season, only for the Wild to respond with Kevin Fiala’s 20th goal of the season.
With 1:32 left, Kirill Kaprizov’s relentless effort tied the game with his 24th goal of the season.

The win gives the Wild 70 points in the standings, which ties the Avalanche for second place in the West Division. The Wild will face Vegas in a rematch on Wednesday night.
