In only its third season as a Major League Soccer side, Minnesota United qualified for the playoffs for the first time.
The Loons went into the game knowing a victory over Sporting Kansas City at Allianz Field would secure their spot in the postseason.
They put their fans through the wringer before clinching, with Kansas taking a first-half lead through Botond Barath’s 7th minute strike.
But the Loons struck back in the 70th minute with Osvaldo Alonso’s equalizer, with the capacity crowd growing to a crescendo as they roared their team on to grab a winner.
What a moment for the Loons!

And it came as late as the first minute of stoppage time, with Hassani Dotson jinking through the penalty area before his deflected shot caused the net to bulge.
Adrian Heath’s men were given little chance of a playoff spot by many pundits at the start of the season, but have proven to be one of the surprise packages in the MLS.
They haven’t just squeaked into the playoffs, they’ve done it with two games to spare while occupying second spot in the western conference.
“I’m really pleased for everyone, we somehow found our way tonight,” Heath said.
