Getting consistent play at the safety position has been a two-part story for the Minnesota Vikings.
- Part 1: Harrison Smith is consistent at free safety
- Part 2: Robert Blanton and Andrew Sendejo are not at strong safety
As Viking Update notes, Sendejo has already lost his starting job twice in four weeks; once because of performance and again due to injury. Blanton’s performance thus far can pretty much be summed up by

The lack of production from Sendejo and Smith could mean Antone Exum gets a shot to start at strong safety Sunday when the Vikings host the Chiefs.
Zimmer on if Exum has a chance to start: “Potentially. If I feel good about him.”
“I definitely think I’m ready now to get a shot out there,” Exum said Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune.
Exum was a late-round draft pick by the Vikings in 2014. With 12 games to play, he could soon find himself with an opportunity to claim the job at a position of weakness in the Vikings’ secondary.
