Unless Jaren Hall or Josh Dobbs rapidly develops into a star quarterback, the 2024 NFL offseason could be filled with “Will Kirk Cousins re-sign with the Vikings?” stories.
Cousins, due to become a free agent in March, will miss the rest of the season recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles in his right leg, but signs continue to point to Cousins playing again for the Vikings in the future. Look what Dianna Russini wrote in her latest piece at The Athletic:
Cousins is out for the season and will be a free agent in 2024. Though his future is unclear, conversations I’ve had with sources over the last few months suggest Minnesota will try to bring him back and that there are many in the building who want that.
That falls in line with what head coach Kevin O’Connell said this week when asked about Cousins’ future with the Vikings.
“Kirk Cousins is going to be healthy again, I know he’s going to be a free agent after this season, but Kirk knows how I feel about him, and that’ll be something that will hopefully work itself out,” O’Connell said.
The general manager, Kwesi-Adofo Mensah, was less direct but said “every option is still on the table with Kirk.”
