Gopher football head coach Jerry Kill has made it commonplace of late to snatch recruits from schools to which they’ve previously committed.
Last week, Kill persuaded receiver Isaiah Gentry, who had committed to Kent State, to join the Gophers, as well as offensive lineman Jared Weyler, who was originally a Bowling Green commit.
Monday, a third and fourth recruit were pried away from their original commitments, as the Gophers added defensive tackle Gary Moore and wide receiver Connor Krizancic to their class of 2014, their 18th and 19th additions of the 23 spots they have.
Krizancic, originally a Cincinnati recruit, is a three-star player according to ESPN that runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash and stands 6’2″, 193 lbs,
Moore is also an ESPN three-star recruit, and the new Gopher was headed to Southern Mississippi before flipping his decision to Minnesota.
His 4.75 40-yard dash is impressive for his 6’4″, 285 lb. frame, and he also attracted attention from Northern Illinois, Troy, and Arizona State among others.
Wednesday is National Signing Day, so the Gophers have roughly 48 hours to fill their remaining spots. One major announcement they’re waiting on is Washburn High School’s Jeff Jones, who verbally committed to the ‘U’ in 2013, but has a lengthy list of offers from top-tier schools.
Jones is the state’s top recruit, and ranked No. 44 nationally according to Rivals. He officially visited Minnesota in early December, but took an official to Iowa the next weekend.
