Gophers wide receiver KJ Maye was spitting up blood during Saturday’s game at Colorado State, but Gophers coach Jerry Kill remains hopeful that Maye will be ready to go when Minnesota hosts Kent State Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.
Kill told reporters Tuesday that Maye will be a limited participant in practice this week, but believes there is a chance Maye will be able to play Saturday.
“He’ll play as long as things progress with him,” Kill said.

Maye injured his midsection during the Gophers 23-20 overtime victory Saturday. The senior receiver remained in the game and even caught the go-ahead touchdown with 55 seconds remaining, but he did not play in overtime.
The Pioneer Press reports the Gophers will have Isaiah Gentry available for the first time this season on Saturday. The freshman injured his hamstring during preseason and the Gophers have been careful with his recovery.
While they will be available, the Star Tribune reports the Gophers will be without a few others. Senior guard Jon Christenson had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday, and Kill said he’s hopeful Christenson will be back in about four weeks.
Safeties Damarius Travis (hamstring) and Ace Rogers (knee) will be out for their second straight game as well.
