If Matt Kalil struggled against Detroit’s Ziggy Ansah and Willie Young, what’s going to happen when he goes up against perennial all-pro Julius Peppers on Sunday?
“I’m not freaked out. I had a bad game,” Kalil told the Pioneer Press.
“Playing well last year, people have higher standards, which is fine,” he said. “It’s not something I don’t already know. I’m not freaking out. We’ve still got a long season, and I know I’m going to get better.
Peppers has 111 1/2 sacks since beginning his career with the Carolina Panthers in 2002.
“He has it all. The whole package,” Kalil said. “Age obviously hasn’t slowed him down. He can turn it on and off whenever he wants, so you always have to prepare for him. He’s a great player.”
Anything less than an exceptional game from Kalil could mean a Peppers helmet to quarterback Christian Ponder’s blindside. But Kalil insists he’ll be fine.
“I got my mind straight this week, and I’m ready to get after it,” he said.
