It’s been a rollercoaster month for Minnesota Vikings safety Jayron Kearse.
“Do the Vikings have a place in your future?” a Twitter used asked Kearse, who moments earlier tweeted “Excited for my future.”
Kearse responded to the query with a one word answer: “No.”

Just over 24 hours later, Kearse was on the field making numerous big plays to help the Vikings complete a comeback win over the Broncos. After trailing 20-0 at the half, Minnesota rallied for a 27-23 victory, with Kearse drawing praise from teammates for his coverage in the end zone as Denver threatened to score late in the fourth quarter.
After the game, Kearse suggested that he wasn’t thinking straight when he tweeted the response.
“Just the thoughts in my head and just the things I was going through and thinking, to have a talk with Anthony Harris right before the game was really big,” Kearse said, according to the Star Tribune. “I can’t thank him enough.”
It’s not clear why Kearse responded to the tweet the way he did, but if there was anything to be upset about it could very well have been the fact that Kearse didn’t replace Harris in the starting lineup. Instead, the Vikings gave Andrew Sendjo, who signed earlier in the week, the starting no.
Sendejo came up with a big interception late in the first half, so the plan looks good in hindsight.
All of this drama comes on the heels of Kearse being charged with five misdemeanors following a DWI arrest Oct. 27.
Kearse is due to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
