ESPN’s Jalen Rose joined First Take on Friday morning to give his two cents on the best destination for five-time All Star point guard, Russell Westbrook.
With the retirement of Tim Duncan, Rose said if Westbrook wants to join a championship pedigree team then there’s no better destination than the San Antonio Spurs.
However although Boston has also expressed interest, Rose believes the Celtics would probably need a third team to pull off a deal.
Rose goes on to say, “If you want to go to a team that has not done it; that’s better than the Celtics? Minnesota. You join Wiggins, KAT, they just drafted Kris Dunn.”
Rose also notes the presence of Tom Thibodeau in Minnesota and the fact that playing in the Western Conference means no early playoff matchups against LeBron James – whose teams have made it the NBA Finals six consecutive seasons.
It’s pretty impressive to say that Minnesota is better than Boston, considering the Celtics have made the playoffs in four of the last five seasons while the Wolves haven’t been there in 12 years.
Despite other teams throwing their names in the mix, clearly there is enough reason to believe that the Wolves will be keeping their tabs on Westbrook this summer.
