Minnesota Timberwolves fans excited for the arrival of D’Angelo Russell will have to wait a little longer to see him hit the court as the team announced on Saturday afternoon that Russell will not play on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a quad injury.’

Russell has been dealing with the issue for the past week as he sat out Monday’s game against the Wizards with what was called a bruised right quadriceps but started Wednesday in his return to Brooklyn.
Russell was acquired by the Timberwolves on Thursday in a trade deadline deal that saw Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 first-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick head to the Golden State Warriors. In all, it will make Saturday’s game a little less exciting despite the addition of seven new players at Thursday’s trade deadline.
