If the Stanley Cup playoffs started today, the Minnesota Wild would be sitting in the driver’s seat as the No. 1 overall seed in the Western Conference.
Division winners host the two wild card teams in the first round while the other two first-round series put the second- and- third-place teams from each division against each other.
Currently, this is what the first-round would feature.
- C1) Wild vs. WC2) St. Louis
- C2) Chicago vs. C3) Nashville
- P1) San Jose vs. WC1) Calgary
- P2) Edmonton vs. P3) Anaheim
If the Wild can finish as the top seed in the West they’ll likely face one of these teams fighting for the last wild card spot in the first round.
- St. Louis – 67 points
- Los Angeles – 66 points
- Winnipeg – 62 points
- Dallas – 60 points
Nashville, Anaheim or Edmonton could possibly end up here, too.
The are 2-1-1 against the Blues this season. They meet for the final time in the regular season next Tuesday.
