The Gophers’ three-game winning streak ended in a big way Sunday evening as they lost badly to the Indiana Hoosiers, 90-71, on the road.
Minnesota’s defense had big trouble on the perimeter, allowing the Hoosiers to score a school-record 18 three-pointers out of 32 attempts, the Associated Press reports.
James Blackmon, Jr. led Indiana (18-8, 8-5 Big Ten) with 24 points, including six of those three-point shots, as well as seven rebounds.
Andre Hollins finished with 23 points, while Maurice Walker and DeAndre Mathieu each scored 12 for the Gophers (16-10, 5-8), according to the AP.
Minnesota led by as many as eight points in the first half, but Indiana connected on eight three-pointers before halftime and led 44-38 at the break.
The Hoosiers turned up the pressure from behind the arc in the second half, scoring another 10 three-pointers as they realized there was a potential new record at stake.
They were also more aggressive on the boards, out-rebounding the Gophers 35-16, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

The Gophers are 1-6 on the road in the Big Ten this season, and have five games left – including two against fifth-ranked Wisconsin.
