The Minnesota Vikings come into Sunday with a 1-5 record. With the rest of the NFC North pulling away, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding the Vikings ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline.
One player that is being mentioned as a possible trade candidate is Anthony Harris. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings are open to trade Harris if someone is willing to take on his salary.
The Vikings franchise-tagged the 29-year-old last offseason for $11.4 million as one of the top safeties in the league. His play has slipped in 2020, however as he ranks 34th among qualifying safeties in PFF’s overall grades. By comparison, Harris ranked fifth in 2018 and second in 2019.
Another name that’s been mentioned on the block is Adam Thielen. After rumors surfaced that he could reunite with former offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Vikings have made it clear the Vikings are not interested in dealing the Minnesota native.
Thielen’s situation is different in that the 30-year-old is signed with the Vikings through the 2024 season, but has a potential out clause after this season per Spotrac. Thielen carries a $13.5 million cap hit for 2021.
Last Sunday, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that other veterans such as Riley Reiff and Harrison Smith have also been rumored to be on the move. That situation might only intensify if the Vikings lose to the Packers on Sunday.
For now, the Vikings roster seems to be a very fluid situation, which should make the next 48 hours interesting.
