It could be over.
According to multiple sources, former Twins All-Star and current Fox Sports North commentator Ron Coomer is a finalist, along with Todd Hollandsworth, for the Chicago Cubs radio analyst job alongside Pat Hughes.
Coomer spent six seasons with the Twins as a player, representing the team as its lone All-Star in 1999, and spent one season with Chicago as well, playing in 111 games for the Cubs.
Hollandsworth, the 1996 NL Rookie of the Year for the L.A. Dodgers, appeared in 164 games for the Cubs over two seasons.
Since joining the Fox Sports North broadcast team in the late 2000’s, Coomer has served as an in-studio analyst, field reporter during games, and most recently as the color man for games when Bert Blyleven does not do broadcasts alongside play-by-play man Dick Bremer.
Coomer also co-hosts an afternoon music/talk radio show on 96.3 K-TWIN in Minneapolis.
If this is the last we’ve seen of “Coom Dawg,” it’s been a wild and strange adventure, including the infamous quote “you will always screw the game.” Prophetic words Ron.
