Percy Harvin says he’s a “longshot” to play Sunday against the Lions, but he’s not ruling himself out. If he doesn’t play, expect an increased role for rookie wide receiver Jarius Wright.
Wright says he can run out of the backfield — not quite like Harvin — but he’s capable. If Harvin isn’t able to play, he’ll “definitely be ready to go.”
Before the end of the first half, Harvin followed head coach Leslie Frazier down the sideline yelling about something. Harvin explained Monday, saying it was in the “heat of the moment” and he was frustrated about the offense being forced to settle for a field goal after an impressive start to the drive.
If Wright can pick up the slack, maybe offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz can. The big man lined up as a tight end a few times on Sunday, and went out for a pass on a goal line play. However, he has zero career receptions, but he did score a touchdown on accident in college.
