It’s former Cooper High School basketball star Rashad Vaughn’s birthday today, so this post will be shameless and hopeful that he comes back to Minnesota after he spends his senior year of high school at basketball powerhouse Findlay Prep (Las Vegas).
If you’ve forgotten about Vaughn in the madness that is the basketball class of 2014 in Minnesota, here’s a reminder.
More context: He is the seventh rated prospect in the country according to Rivals.com, you’ll see him just five spots below Apple Valley’s Tyus Jones, and Vaughn recently narrowed his list of possible destinations to 11.
The Gophers are on that list, with Vaughn saying ‘I think they have a shot just because my family is here’. That can be taken as a positive or a negative, so we’ll take it as the former.
To be fair to us, this isn’t completely a begging, desperate, shameless cry out to Vaughn to grace us with his presence at Williams Arena. He did actually make news today by telling the Pioneer Press he will likely be one-and-done in college, heading to the NBA after his freshman season at whatever school earns his services. So there’s your technical reason for this post.
Mostly though, it’s to show him media love so he does not fall under the popular addage about the city of sin: “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”
Don’t stay in Vegas Rashad. In fact, Tyus, why don’t you join him at the ‘U’?
Happy birthday bruh. @ShowtimeMr
