It’s safe to say the Gophers don’t get a lot of attention in a state with four professional sports teams. But one man on the U of M football team is attracting national attention.
Ra’Shede Hageman is already on a CBS Sports list called the “Freak List: The 20 craziest college football.”
He can bench 465 pounds and he can do a 360 dunk. Not bad for a 300+ pound defensive lineman.
Even though the senior from Minneapolis Washburn has been in the spotlight, he didn’t realize he was a role model until a recent trip to an elementary school in Willmar to visit students.
“I just wanted to share my story and really just give little kids an open perspective of who I am off the field,” Hageman told the Pioneer Press. “It was different because in past years, I really wasn’t doing much community service.”
On Friday Hageman will lead the Gophers defense into fall camp, just 27 days from the season opener against UNLV.
