The Minnesota Timberwolves returned from the NBA All-Star break with a 109-104 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night in Memphis.
1. Timberwolves plagued by turnovers
The Wolves turned the ball over 20 times Friday night. Those turnovers proved costly as the Grizzlies turned them into points.
None of the turnovers was more costly than the one at the end of the third quarter when Tyus Jones lost the ball on his way to the rim in the closing seconds. The ball came down to Vince Carter, who calmly drained a 75-foot, three-pointer as time expired.
The shot changed the momentum of the game.
2. No stopping Conley
Memphis guard Mike Conley was a thorn in the side of the Wolves all night long. Conley led the way with 25 points for the Grizzlies.
He finished the night shooting 10-of-19, while his primary defender, Ricky Rubio, was held to just five points and didn’t make a field goal all night (0-5)
3. LaVine locked on
For awhile it looked like Zach LaVine might single-handedly shoot the Timberwolves to a victory. LaVine returned from the break with a big night. He finished with 22 points in just 26 minutes.
Early on, it looked like LaVine wouldn’t miss.
Make that 19 points in 17 minutes for Zach. He's now 7/8 from the field, Wolves lead 73-67 late in 3rd

He finished the night shooting 8-of-13 from the floor and was 4-of-6 from the three-point line.
