Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph is getting high praise from his teammates at Winter Park.
Linebacker Chad Greenway, for example, predicts Rudolph will be “the breakout star in the NFL” in 2013.
“We’re looking for great things from him,”Greenway told Fox Sports North. “He’s just that type of target that you look around the league that everybody wants to have.”
Rudolph, entering his third year in the NFL, is coming off a performance in the Pro Bowl in February where he was named the games’ Most Valuable Player.
Coach Leslie Frazier says Rudolph’s MVP day (five catches, 122 yards, one touchdown) appears to have had a huge impact on Rudolph’s approach.
“The Kyle Rudolph that I see is now so much more confident and more sure of himself than the Kyle I saw a year ago at this time,” Frazier told reporters after the team’s organized team activities Wednesday. “That Pro Bowl, it’s flipped the switch.”
As for Rudolph, he says his focus is to be a “complete tight end,” which includes providing key blocks for the Vikings’ robust running game.
“You don’t want to be the guy that misses your block,” Rudolph told Vikings.com. “Because Adrian (Peterson) can score at any time.”
