MINNEAPOLIS — The baseball season is likely over for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
No. 3 seed Nebraska defeated No. 4 seed Minnesota, 7-4 in the losers bracket of the Big Ten Tournament, eliminating the Gophers from the competition.
Matt Halloran hit a three-run homer for the Gophers, who likely finish the season with a 32-22 record.
Earlier Friday, the Golden Gophers defeated Illinois, 3-1, to avoid being eliminated.
The tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, which offers a shot at the College World Series.
