Hello, Mr. President.
The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team will celebrate its perfect 2012-13 season at the White House Monday. President Barack Obama will recognize national championship teams with a formal ceremony on the South Lawn, according to the University of Minnesota.
From 2011 to 2013, the Gophers had an unprecedented 62-game win streak and capped off a historic 41-0-0 record in 2013 with their second-straight national championship, KARE 11 reports. The Gophers beat Boston University, 6-3, for the national championship last March.
On Saturday, the Gophers defeated the University of North Dakota, 3-1, to claim its third-straight WCHA championship, Gopher Sports reports.
The Gophers will leave Sunday from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and return Monday evening to prepare for the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The first round of the tournament is set for March 14-15, and the 2014 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four is March 21-23, according to the U of M.
Monday’s ceremony will be streamed live by the White House on www.whitehouse.gov/live.
