As expected, the Gophers took a significant fall in the Associated Press Top 25 basketball rankings this week.
After two losses last week (Northwestern and Wisconsin), Minnesota dropped from 12th to 23rd in the nationwide rankings. Michigan is the new No. 1, for the first time in 20 years.
Minnesota (15-5) has now lost four straight games in Big 10 play, but the schedule may give a few breaks in the weeks ahead. Four the next five Gophers opponents are unranked teams, including Nebraska and Iowa who come to Williams Arena this week.
