The Minnesota Gopher men’s basketball team dropped another Big Ten game on Tuesday night, falling to Nebraska 52-49 in Lincoln.
Minnesota was cold from the floor, shooting just 30.8 percent (16-of-52). Things weren’t much better for the Gophers from the free throw line either, as they finished 9-of-19 from the charity stripe.

Those shooting woes allowed Nebraska to pick up the victory in what could only be described as a must-win for both teams.
Andre Hollins followed his 31-point performance against Rutgers with a game-high 21, but it wasn’t enough for the Gophers as Shavon Shields scored 15 and Terran Petteway added 11 to lead the Cornhuskers.
The Gophers started off cold and it stayed that way throughout, as Nebraska built a quick 11-4 lead in the opening moments. Minnesota had just two field goals in the first 9 minutes of the game.
Minnesota did battle back towards the end of the first half to take a 25-24 lead at the break.
The Gophers just couldn’t get the offense going in the second half to hold the lead. Despite the offensive struggles, Gophers coach Richard Pitino stood by his players afterward.

Minnesota (12-8, 1-6) returns to the court on Saturday against Illinois.
