With hopes of making a return trip to the NCAA Tournament next season, the Gophers softball team received discouraging news Tuesday when star player Kendyl Lindaman informed the team that she’s transferring.
Gophers head coach Jamie Traschsel confirmed the news to the Star Tribune, first reported by Fastpitchnews on Twitter, saying: “I met with Kendyl this morning and she informed me of her decision to transfer. We wish her well moving forward.”
Lindaman also confirmed the news by retweeting the tweet from Fastpitchnews.

Lindaman is the two-time reigning Big Ten Player of the Year and led the Gophers with a .361 batting average, 20 home runs and 55 RBI as a sophomore last season.
She also slugged 20 homers as a freshman, giving her 40 in her career, which is just 11 fewer than the team record of 51 by Jordanne Nygren (1999-2003).
It’s unclear where Lindaman plans to transfer, nor is it clear what led to her decision.
