Gophers basketball coach Tubby Smith said Monday that starters Rodney Williams and Joe Coleman played with injuries in Thursday’s loss to Michigan at Williams Arena, the Pioneer Press reports.
Smith said on conference call that Williams — already suffering from a strained hip — tweaked his knee in the team’s 83-75 loss to the then-No. 5 Wolverines. Coleman, already hobbling in a couple previous practices, continued to deal with an ankle sprain.
Smith noted that an MRI on Coleman’s ankle revealed nothing serious.
The coach said both Coleman and Williams were expected to play when the Gophers travel to Northwestern Wednesday.
The Gophers (15-3, 3-2) dropped from No. 9 to No. 12 in The Associated Press rankings Monday.
