Richard Pitino wants the big men on his team to be able to run the floor and shoot from the outside.
Joey King fits that profile.
The former Eastview High School basketball star has signed a scholarship with hopes of playing for the Gophers this year.

King left Drake in May after averaging 6.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as a freshman. The 6-foot-9 King was selected to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman team.
Pitino made it pretty well known he wants big guys who can shoot from the outside. King fits perfectly into that system with his deep range.

King becomes the only Minnesotan on the roster. To play next season, he’ll have to find a way through the NCAA’s transfer rules that force a player to wait a year before playing for their new team.
