For the second year in a row the Gophers were swept in the North Star College Cup.
After losing to Bemidji State 4-2 on Saturday the Gophers (13-12) again lost on Sunday in the third-place game to Minnesota State, 3-2.
Teddy Blueger led the Mavericks (14-9-5) with a pair of goals, including the game-winning power play goal at 7:29 of the third period.

Bemidji State and St. Cloud State are on the ice right now playing for the in-state tournament title.
Going back to last season, the Gophers have just two wins in their last 15 games against in-state rivals Minnesota State, Bemidji State, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Cloud State.
The weekend proved to quickly turn a five-game winning streak into a two-game losing streak, and there’s a good bet that when the new Pairwise Rankings are released this week that the Gophers fall back out of the Top 16.
The Pairwise has generally proved to be a very accurate predictor of which 16 teams are invited to the NCAA Tournament.
But it’s not time to panic because the Gophers are still tied with Michigan on top of the Big Ten standings, and the winner of the conference receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
